For a problem, it helps to know:

  • your phone model and its iOS or Android version,
  • the Dimly version (at the bottom of Settings),
  • what you did right before it happened.

Questions

Is Dimly free?
Yes. There are no ads, no in-app purchases and no account.
Who sees my data?
Nobody but you. Everything is saved on your phone. The app has no account, no ads and no analytics, and it sends nothing anywhere. More in the privacy policy.
How long does the sound play?
By default the sound slowly fades out after 30 minutes. You can choose 15, 30 or 60 minutes, or All night if you want it to keep going.
How do I end the night? Why is there no clock?
Hold the end button for a moment (about 1.5 seconds), so a stray tap in the dark does nothing. The night screens never show the time on purpose: watching the clock tends to keep you awake. The time you turned the lights out is shown only in Nights.
How do I change the language?
Settings > App > Language: System, Czech or English. With System, phones set to Czech or Slovak show Czech, and every other language shows English.
How do I delete my data?
Settings > Delete all data removes everything the app has stored. To clear only your history, open Nights and delete one night or all nights. Uninstalling the app also removes all its data.
Will it fix my sleep?
No promise there. Dimly is a calm evening routine, not a treatment, and it does not diagnose or treat sleep problems. A steady routine helps many people wind down. If trouble sleeping goes on for weeks, talk to a doctor.

Credits

The sounds are free recordings shared by their authors, plus noise generated for Dimly. You can find every author, source and licence in the app under Settings > Credits and licences, together with the fonts and open source libraries.

What's new

Dimly 0.6.0

The first version in the App Store. Start your evening from Tonight: wind down, pick a sound, and then a dim red screen slowly goes dark. The sound fades out on its own, unless you choose All night. In the morning there is one short question about the night, only if you want it. Everything stays on your phone.
